Karavostasi Beach
The Karavostasi Beach, often known as Chochlidia Beach, is a beautiful bathing bay in the fishing village of the same name, Karavostasi. This fine pebble beach is very centrally located, just near the port, and is perfect for a vacation thanks to its ideal location. The sea shines in the most stunning turquoise blue colors, the water is crystal clear, and the atmosphere is absolutely idyllic. While sunbathing, you can also enjoy a magnificent view of the whitewashed houses, and on hot summer days, tamarisk trees provide soothing shade. The small taverns directly at the harbor are also excellent, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the dream beach while having grilled fish.
Tip: Directly on the beach you will find some superb accommodations like the GLAROS Luxury Apartments or the Coral Apartments. Perfect if you are planning a vacation on Folegandros.
Vardia Beach
One of the most gorgeous beaches of Folegandros is Vardia Beach, which is a bit hidden behind the harbor town of Karavostasi. Here you will experience a fascinating bathing bay of a class of its own! Embedded in a spectacular landscape and surrounded by high cliffs, Vardia is a real picture book perfect beach. The sea shines in the most beautiful shades of blue and the soft sand offers fabulous entry into the cool water. You won’t find any natural shade here, so be sure to bring enough sunscreen and maybe a small umbrella. It is best to visit this beach when there is no wind, because then there are no waves and you will experience the dream bay from its absolutely most beautiful side.
Tip: The beautiful Onar Suites & Villas are a real insider tip for a very special vacation on Folegandros. Also the beach Vardia is not far away from there!
Agali Beach
Agali Beach, sometimes spelled Agkali Beach, is the most beautiful beach of Folegandros for many vacationers, but also for many locals. And really, this spectacular rocky bay is an absolute postcard motif that should not be missed on any trip to the island. Holidaymakers love the beautiful white sandy beach and the turquoise blue sea, which is perfect for swimming and, on top of that, excellent for snorkeling. The bay is sheltered from the wind and waves, which is also appreciated by families with children. Just behind the beach are a few good accommodations, and fabulous restaurants, traditional taverns and cozy cafés provide some local food and drinks.
Tip: The Blue Sand Boutique Hotel is in a prime location on the dream beach. Guests love the original decor, gorgeous views, and delicious breakfasts.
Livadaki Beach
A real insider tip on the island of Folegandros is the beach Paralia Livadaki. Imposing rocks, snow-white pebbles and the turquoise sea conjure up a landscape like something out of a travel magazine. However, this breathtaking natural bay is located very secluded on the west coast, and is still not connected by a road. You can reach the hidden dream beach either by a beautiful hike that leads up to the Aspropounta lighthouse, or you have the option of taking the taxi boat from Agali during the high season. There are no tourist facilities such as umbrella rental, bars or restaurants, but you can enjoy an incredible idyll and seclusion.
Tip: The hike to Livadaki beach starts from Ano Meria and takes about 40 minutes. Good shoes, sun protection and enough to drink is highly recommended.
Vitsentzou Beach
The beach Vitsentzou is located in the southeast of the island of Folegandros, not far from the harbor, and can be easily reached via the coastal road. A rather steep but quite short descent leads down to this wild and romantic natural bay, which is why this dream beach is never really crowded, even in the high season, and you can always enjoy a unique atmosphere. This very quiet bay is an ideal place to relax and also the turquoise blue sea invites you to dream. When snorkeling, you will also discover an interesting underwater world with little waves.
Tip: A few minutes walk from the bay are the Alisideri Studios. Here you stay in a former farm and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea.
Katergo Beach
Katergo Beach is definitely one of the most spectacular beaches on Folegandros! This gigantic bay is located very secluded in the south of the island and inspires with a fascinating landscape that is rarely seen anywhere else. Surrounded by mighty rock formations, and with the most beautiful blue sea colors, this fine pebble bay is a true jewel of the Cyclades. You can get there either by taxi-boat from the island’s port, which, however, brings visitors there and back several times a day only in the summer months.
Or you can take the 30-minute hike from Livadi, which rewards with beautiful views over the coastal landscape. In any case, Katergo Beach is unique on Folegandros and really worth a trip!
Agios Nikolaos Beach
On the west coast of Folegandros is the breathtaking beach Agios Nikolaos, a true dream beach in a class of its own. Nestled in a picturesque setting, a light sandy beach with beautiful turquoise blue water colors inspires. The sea is incredibly clear and is therefore just the ideal place for snorkeling. On the beach, there are some small trees that provide natural shade. Another highlight are the two cute taverns right in the bay, where you can get local specialties and cool drinks served with an amazing view of the sea.
Tip: The easiest way to reach Agios Nikoaos beach is by taxi boat from Agkali. Alternatively, you can choose the 20-minute, rather exposed coastal path.
Livadi Beach
Livadi Beach is definitely one of the best bathing bays and on top of that one of the most easily accessible beaches of Folegandros. This beautiful, rather lonely sandy beach is located in the southeast of the island and can be easily reached by car or quad. Here, sun-seeking beach vacationers experience a paradise of peace and relaxation. Beautiful is especially the rustic flair that surrounds this bay and also the fine sand invites you to relax and sunbathe. A part of the bay is used as a nudist area, perfect if you like to go textile-free bathing.
