General Information about Jezera
The pretty coastal town of Jezera in Croatia is located in the south-east of Murter Island and, with only 900 inhabitants, it is the smallest settlement on the popular holiday island. Its place name means something like “lakes” in Croatian, as small ponds and pools are formed by the rain in spring and autumn. That’s a natural phenomenon that disappears again in the warm summer months. The history of Jezera dates back to 1298, when the first settlement was established on the coast. Several churches still bear witness to a rich history of the popular fishing town.
The town is also known for its picturesque harbor “Marina Jezera”, which has even been awarded the Blue Flag, and for the romantic waterfront promenade, where visitors are treated to culinary delights in regional restaurants. Another highlight and a reason why tourists particularly appreciate Jezera are the many fantastic beaches to be discovered around the coastal town.

On a holiday in Jezera you can expect a lot of sights worth seeing. The most beautiful attractions are the picturesque coastal promenade, the marina, the romantic churches and of course the many fantastic beaches. The surroundings of this holiday resort are also fascinating and offer exciting excursion destinations and possibilities for day trips. The Harbour & Centre
One of the most beautiful attractions of Jezera is definitely the charming center at the harbor. Along the picturesque waterfront promenade, cozy cafés are lined up, where you can soak in the enchanting scenery of the fishing village. The quaint konobas serving freshly caught seafood and fish are also fabulous. During the summer months, several events take place in the center, such as the fishermen’s festival “Velika Gospa” in August and the internationally famous Big Game Fishing Competition at the end of September.
A walk through Jezera reveals several small churches, such as Crkva Sv. Ivana in the town center or Crkva Sv. Konstancija, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the bay. A walk along the promenade at the harbor is also interesting, where visitors can watch the fishermen at work in the morning.
Tip: The holiday apartment Holiday Home Luce offers a great location in the center and a fabulous view of the harbor!
Coastal Path to Tisno
One of the best things to do in Jezera is a walk or a bike ride along the so-called “Deptak Jezera-Tisno”. This romantic coastal hiking trail starts at the upper end of Jezera and leads to the village of Tisno. On a length of about 2 kilometers, you will definitely discover the island of Murter from one of its most beautiful sides. You pass natural stone beaches and beautiful pine forests and the view of the turquoise sea and the offshore islands is just spectacular.
The Murtarić Peninsula
An insider tip among the most beautiful attractions of Jezera is the Murtaric peninsula. It can be reached from the resort either by boat or by car via a gravel road. A small green peninsula awaits guests during a visit, connected to the mainland by a natural pebble beach. This natural paradise is perfect for an undisturbed swimming experience and relaxing in the most wonderful surroundings. The sea is also crystal clear, and snorkeling reveals an interesting underwater world.

Church Gospa od Zdravlja
The Church of Gospa od Zdravlja, known in German as the Church of Our Lady Health, is another fascinating attraction worth visiting in Jezera. Renovated as recently as 2012, its history dates back to 1720, when this stone church was built by the well-known master builder Jure Foretic from Korcula.
