The Lamai Beach on Koh Samui
The Lamai Beach on Koh Samui is certainly one of the best beaches on the island. Turquoise sea, tall palm trees, fine sand and round rocks conjure here a backdrop like from a travel magazine. Due to its length of about 4 kilometers, this fine sandy beach is ideal for long walks by the sea. A vacation at Lamai Beach is a fantastic recommendation for those who prefer it quiet during the day, but still want to enjoy some nightlife in the evening. An optimal mixture of hustle and bustle and tranquility. During the day, the vacationers spread out on the long sandy beach, and so everyone is guaranteed to find a quiet spot under the sun. In the evening there is a promenade, the so-called Lamai Beach Road, for strolling, shopping and dining.
The Lamai Beach on Koh Samui is not only beautiful, it is also perfect for swimming. The water is turquoise blue, wonderfully warm and usually very clear. If you love swimming in the sea, you should visit the south of the beach section because here you will find the optimal conditions for it. Also, visually, the beach becomes more and more beautiful towards the south.
For snorkeling, Lamai Beach is actually not the best place to visit. In general, you will find only a few spots for snorkeling on Koh Samui. Therefore, we recommend that you take a snorkeling trip to the neighboring islands such as Koh Phangan or Koh Tao.
Compared to Chaweng Beach, Lamai Beach is a bit more quaint and less expensive. The area around the beach has a good tourist infrastructure with many restaurants, bars, boutiques, travel agencies, accommodation and several supermarkets. Walking around, you can always find some good beach bars and restaurants right by the sea.
