The Phra Nang Beach
Phra Nang Beach, also known as Tham Phra Nang, is a true dream beach in Thailand. The entire beach is just marvelous, and that’s why the famous rocky island in the sea graces Krabi’s postcards. Here, the panorama is really breathtakingly beautiful and also photographers love to come here to take amazing Thailand pictures. But not only the ambience is a amazing, also the sand is powdery fine, and invites you to linger. During a walk along the beach, you will find many shady places and if you like you can get yourself a massage directly on the beach.
Also the turquoise blue sea is just perfect! The water is crystal clear and invites you to swim and snorkel. Good snorkeling spots can be found at the end of the beach. Here it is also a bit quieter and more relaxed than at the upper area near the beach cave. Around lunchtime, especially at high season, the Phra Nang Beach can get quite busy. At this time, many tour boats will stop there. Never mind, very early in the morning and in the late afternoon you have the beach almost to yourself.
If you are hungry, the food boats offer a variety of delicious Thai food. So, you can order here, among other things, pancakes, burgers or pad Thai. Even fruit shakes are served here directly out of the colorful longtail boat. If you like to be active on holiday, you can borrow a kayak and paddle off the breathtakingly beautiful coastline.
Phra Nang Cave
At the top of the beach is the famous Phra Nang Cave, a special kind of rock cave. For local fishermen, this cave, which is often referred to as the Princess Cave, is sacred. Definitely, you will immediately notice the many penis figures. These phallic symbols are offerings, which should fulfill a long-desired wish for getting children and fertility. The Princess Cave of Phra Nang Cave is truly iconic and therefore one of Railay’s most famous attractions.
Spectacular are also the climbers hanging in the high rock walls of Phra Nang Beach. The panoramic rocks of Krabi Province are a popular rock climbing spot, and so various climbing courses are offered on-site.
Railay Viewpoint
An absolute highlight at Phra Nang Beach is the view from Railay Viewpoint. Unfortunately, the way up is not manageable for everyone. You should wear closed shoes, watch out for slippery passages and be prepared for climbing. In some places along the way are ropes to hold on to. The climb takes about 25 minutes. At the top of Railay Viewpoint, there is a fantastic view over Phra Nang Beach, Railay and the spectacularly beautiful rock landscape. If you like, you can climb even further to Princess Lagoon, a limestone doline connected to the sea.
