General Information about Playa de San Juan
The entire stretch of beach of Playa de San Juan has a length of around 7 kilometers. It begins in the south at the Mirador de la Rotonda de Abajo and extends to El Campellos in the north. Alicante’s old town is around 13 kilometers away, but it can be easily reached by public transport in around 20 minutes. Conveniently, for example, tram lines 1, 3 and 4 connect the city center with Playa de San Juan. The bus stop (lines 21 and 22) is also just a few meters from the beach. Those who come by car will always find enough free parking spaces in the numerous public car parking areas.
A holiday to Playa de San Juan
Playa de San Juan was awarded the Blue Flag, a special sign that promises TOP water quality and high beach standards. And indeed, the sea is crystal clear and very clean. The fine sandy beach is also perfectly maintained and invites tourists to bathe in the sun and engage in beach sports. Given its size, visitors are relatively well distributed, even in the main summer season. Since this beach is very popular with locals, you can expect more visitors on the weekends.
Behind the wide beach there is a 6 km long, very well-kept promenade. Due to its length, it is a popular place for athletes, joggers, cyclists and pedestrians. In addition, there are numerous good restaurants, fast food chains like burger king, nice cafés and cozy pubs situated along the beach promenade. In summer, a few of the beach bars even open directly on the beach and spoil holidaymakers with cool drinks and snacks.
If you want, you can rent yourself beach chairs and umbrellas, sometimes even with a waiter service. The drinks are then served directly to your sunbed.
The wide range of leisure and sports activities is also ingenious. Along the beach there are many playgrounds, a lot of fitness equipment, volleyball courts and mini football goals. There is also the opportunity to try water sports, such as windsurfing, SUP and pedal boating.
