General Information about Sveti Juraj
The village of Sveti Juraj has 960 inhabitants and is located on the Croatian coastal road Jadranska Magistrala in Kvarner Bay, about 10 kilometers south of Senj. Behind it there is the imposing Velebit mountain range, where the mountain pass Oltar (1,002 meters) leads from Sveti Juraj over the mountains. In front of the fishing village is the small rocky island Otocic Lisac, which can be reached by kayak, SUP, or even by taxi boat.
The center is the small idyllic fishing harbor, where even today the boats of the scampi fishermen swing in the sea. Just behind it are the village center and the church of St. George from 1856, which is one of the most important attractions of Sveti Juraj. Interesting is also the old cemetery by the sea, where you can still admire the ruins of the church Sveti Filip i Jakov from the Middle Ages.
The most beautiful view of Sveti Juraj can be enjoyed from the town hill. A short 10-minute hike takes you to a viewing platform with a cross, and from the top you can experience the coastal panorama from its most amazing side!

Beach Banja
The Plaza Banja is a pretty stretch of beach in the north of the old town and is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Sveti Juraj by many. On your vacation, you can enjoy a great mix of pebble and concrete beach, where white bathing cabins conjure up a nostalgic ambiance. The sea is slightly cooler than elsewhere thanks to the freshwater springs on this stretch of coast, which provides much-needed cooling, especially in summer.
