The best time to visit Turanj is from May to the end of September. At this time, you can count on warm temperatures, lots of sun and relatively little rain.
General Information about Turanj
Turanj is a small, quiet village in the vacation region of Zadar and belongs actually to the municipality of Sveti Filip i Jakov. Thanks to its location on the Pasman Channel, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the offshore archipelago with 16 islets. The most famous is probably the heart island Galesnjak, which you can already see from the coast, and which resembles a heart in the sea from the bird’s-eye view. A real highlight, however, are the numerous bays and beaches of Turanj, which make it a popular bathing destination on the Adriatic.
The coastal town owes its name Turanj to its medieval towers, some of which can still be admired during a stroll through the town. Also worth seeing is the church Gospe od Karmela from the 15th century, which essentially characterizes the historic townscape. In the picturesque center there are some fabulous restaurants and cafés with a magnificent view of the sea.
A real must-see is the promenade, the so-called Lungo Mare, where you can take long walks or bike rides along the beautiful coast. Along the way, there are always wonderful swimming bays and beaches that invite to spend relaxing hours by the sea.
The Beaches in Turanj
The beaches in Turanj make the resort a popular vacation destination. Along the coast, which is about 3 kilometers long, there are numerous pretty bathing places, which are ideal for a quiet vacation on the Adriatic Sea. Characteristic here are the numerous jetties that form small bathing sections and give the village a distinctive ambience.
Plaza Turanj Beach
Beach Plaza Turanj is the main beach in the resort and certainly, one of the most beautiful beaches in Turanj. This picturesque, fine pebble beach delights with great facilities, gorgeous sea colors and unique vacation flair. No less than 3 beach sections offer enough space for sunbathing and relaxing even in the high season. If you like, you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds at a reasonable price, or spread out your towel directly on the fine pebble beach. Right behind it runs the promenade, where really cozy cafés, good restaurants and ice cream parlors provide all the necessary food and drinks.
Tip: The beautiful Torretta Palace Hotel is located directly in the center of Turanj, and the main beach is also just around the corner.
Turanj North Beach
The beaches in the north of Turanj are also amazingly beautiful. Along the coastal promenade, just past the center, you’ll find a perfect mix of concrete beaches and pebble coves that score with turquoise sea colors and top cleanliness. The further north you go, the quieter the bays become, where you usually only meet the guests of the apartment buildings there.

Beach Croatia
Beach Croatia is located in the very south of Turanj, right on the border with the neighboring village of Sveti Filip i Jakov. Guests love the fine pebble beach and also the casual vacation atmosphere that surrounds this bay. Really fantastic are the small beach bars directly on the beach, where you can enjoy a cool drink with a wonderful view of the sea. Right next to it there is a popular surf station, where you can learn to windsurf if you are interested.

In the immediate vicinity there are many other coastal towns. Worth seeing is are the villages Sveti Filip i Jakov, Sukosan and the town of Biograd na Moru, with the cool Fun Park Biograd.
Really beautiful is also the nearby Vransko Jezero Nature Park. Great viewpoints, bird watching spots and kayak tours are just a few of the highlights in the park.
Very popular destinations are of Zadar in the north and Sibenik in the south. Both are among the absolute best things to see in Dalmatia and fascinate with a wonderfully pretty old town.
About 65 kilometers away are the famous Krka Waterfalls near Skradin, where you can hike through a unique ecosystem and swim right next to the rushing waterfall.
