General information about Vodice
Vodice, a town of approximately 8,800 inhabitants, is located in the Dalmatia region, about 3 kilometers from Tribunj and 10 kilometers from Sibenik. Several times, this vacation pearl was chosen as one of the most popular coastal towns in Dalmatia. The tourist center is the old town together with the marina. A 4-kilometer-long promenade connects the town center with the beaches of the various vacation settlements. Especially in summer, there is always something going on, festivals are held, street artists provide entertainment, restaurants serve Dalmatian cuisine, and the beach clubs invite to party. Nevertheless, away from the hustle and bustle you can find many quiet spots, which are also well suited for families with children.
Translated, Vodice means “little water”, a name that dates back to the Middle Ages, when the coastal town with its springs supplied the surrounding area with water. Its history actually already goes back to the Roman rule over Dalmatia when the place was called Arausa. The town of Vodice was first mentioned in writing with the construction of the church of St. Križ in 1402, and even today you can discover several historical attractions in the charming center and old town of Vodice. A highlight is also the Dalmatian architecture, which gives the resort an extra dose of charm.
